Mark Pauline

I think this guy is nuts. I honestly don't understand his art to date a lot of the stuff he does is cool and the robotics is interesting but I really don't consider it art. The danger factor in his performances is probably the only thing I actually like. It creates this sort of rush of freedom almost like saying 'at this point nothing else matters expect wether I live or die'. Art opens your mind to change how you think and his "art" does that. I just think that you can accomplish that by other means.

Christopher Burden

When we started watching Christopher Burden in class I honestly was bored by his "art". It didn't catch my attention I didn't think it was that great, I felt like almost anybody could've done what he did if they were crazy enough to allow someone to shoot them or nail their hands to car. However as his life progressed and unrolled and we saw some of his more recent pieces I started to see what he was about. With the wheel their was a sense of engineering which was attention grabbing and gave you a sense of awe. Then with beam drop you could tell that his intentions were to change the way people think on how some of the most beautiful things, that can end up being timeless, are just so simple.

Timeless

When I think of the word timeless I think of pieces of art which can be viewed by the world for a lifetime and only get better as time passes by. Iconic symbols which always catch your eye. Architecture like the Eiffel Tower. Peices like the Sistine Chapel. That is what I perceive as timeless.

What is art to you and why?

Since I was young boy art had always been part of my life. From the early age of seven I loved architecture. The way the buildings looked and how everything fit together, and taking things to the next extreme. As I grew older and started high school I was intrigued by a class called Communications Technology and decided to give it a go. The class was an intro to graphic design. That's where I truly fell in love with graphic and computer art. Art to me is a way to change the way people think, see, and feel. Art to me is a form of physical emotional expression. Art to me is also a way to escape from real world problems  and allows your imagination to create things which seem impossible. Art is all this and more to me because it has allowed me to change the way people think, see, feel, and act. I created a logo for a non-profit organization called BLUE Missions Group. It is a group dedicated to fight against water poverty in third world countries and provide clean water to those that don't have access to clean drinking water. Every time one of these towns in the Dominican Republic sees my logo they are overwhelmed and truly believe that amongst all the bad in the world there is still hope and goodness. Every time one of the member from the organization sees the logo I created they are inspired to do more for these communities who suffer so much from the basic need of water. Art has allowed me to do all of this and that's what it is to me.
